Who Can Edit Articles
At this juncture, normal users of this site are not able to add or modify articles in the DPWiki system. In order to maximize the quality of the content, we are manually selecting those users who have demonstrated their knowledge and objectivity in this and other forums. When using the forums, these users are denoted by the title 'Fellow' in all of their posts. If you know of any candidates that you believe fit these criteria, please feel free to contact us and we will consider them.
Note: As time passes we will be reviewing this policy, however with the library in its early stages we feel that this approach best serves our readers.
Selecting Article Titles
In order to ensure that the DPWiki system opperates as smoothly as possible, we have provided the following guidelines for article titles. While it is not mandatory, we would ask that all contributors follow these guidelines to maximize continuity of the content.
- Spelling - All article titles in DPWiki should be spelled correctly to avoid broken links from other articles. Where international variations exist, contributors should use the British spelling of the word (eg 'colour' instead of 'color').
- Product Names - When writing articles about a product, please use the formal model name used by the manufacturer. If time permits, add commonly used variants to the Wiki and link them back to the proper name.
- International Variants - If different model names are used around the world, select the most commonly known name and use it for the main article. When that is complete, add additional articles with the other model names and simply place a link back to the original article.
Asside from these formal rules, please try to follow the conventions that are already used within existing articles. Prior to adding your article, look for other articles on related topics and try to use a similar format when producing new content.
Updating Related Articles
Once you've added a new article, it is recommended that you look for articles on similar topics and use the what links here link to identify other articles that may need updating. This ensures that readers will be able to find the new article, as well as maintaining the continuity of the index pages.
Formatting Articles
Please see the Wikipedia 'How to edit a page' article for a detailed description of how to format articles. This site uses the same software as the main Wikipedia website, so the other documentation provided on that site will also be useful here.
